the perfect skirt

I just love this skirt and the Veronica Lake hair! There's something very confident and appealing about the made up girl. This image was taken from a recent Gucci ad. The other image is from an Yves Saint Laurent advertisement from the late 80's--

I love the feather hat and the dandy velvet jacket. I know that velvet supposedly comes in and out of style but in my mind it doesn't get any cooler than a perfectly cut edwardian style velvet jacket for the winter! 

Anna Pavlova

The great ballerina Anna Pavlova was one of my inspirations for the Spring collection. A Russian woman with impeccable style, Anna's unconventional beauty, genius, and personality made her one of the most widely celebrated performers of all time. In the years after World War I, Anna traveled over 400,000 miles dancing all over the world( and this was before air travel, remember!) She had an unfailing sense of style in her personal dress as you can see in these lovely photos. Modern and natural, she let the clothes make the statement without distraction, and the designers of the day loved her for it. She could make the plainest dress look custom made....
