Jane Birkin and Wonderwall

No, I am not talking about “wonderwall” –that dreary early ‘90’s anthem…I’m talking about “wonderwall-the movie.” A charming and colorful film from the ‘60’s starring Jane Birkin at her most gorgeous and psychedelically stylish…This surreal ‘60’s visual masterpiece is a must see for any girl who is captivated by this season’s swinging London revival.

The story line is shallow and silly as a mad professor discovers a hole in the wall of his little flat only to find fairy dust and Jane Birkin waiting on the other side. I’ll let you see it for yourself….but the clothes and the styling are inspiring and very fun and of the moment.

Some of my favorite scenes include the party sequence filled with bright tights and butterflies and false eyelashes. I also love the finale with Jane floating angelically off into space in an Ossie Clark type dress sewn with fresh flowers. (If you look at Boticelli’s "La Primavera” you will see that the girl standing to the right of Venus is dressed just like her!)

The sets are great too-designed by Simon and Marijke of the famous “Fool” collaborative. This movie will definitely inspire you to pay homage to this season’s muse: the decoratively mod Chelsea girl!
