This is my absolute favorite dress to wear right now and I'm not just saying this because I happen to be the designer. It's sophisticated and beautiful and the best part about it is the fabric.

This dress was made using a special authentic wax print from Africa. Let me give you a little background about the meaning behind wax prints and what makes them so special:

Originally, wax resist dyed fabrics came from Indonesia which were then exported to the Gold Coast and spread over West Africa into Central Africa. They became extremely popular and over time the Africans customised and personalised the designs. Nowadays they are primarily made in Ghana and have strong cultural, social and economic importance. The patterns tell stories of relevance to the wearer, such as proverbs, poems and traditional African fables. The colours also hold significance as they can represent social standing, age, tribal orientation and marital status.

Considering that most of the printed clothes that we buy today are made by factories in China, I think that it is important to support traditional cloth making techniques from indigenous communities around the planet so that they don't become extinct themselves. There is something really beautiful and special about wearing a piece of clothing that didn't sacrifice a person's integrity or damage the environment to be made.

I know that I've said this many times, but there is nothing stylish about shopping at Forever 21 and supporting sweat shop made clothing that hurts people and the environment.
