“Let the beauty we love be what we do.”-Rumi
Or better yet, let the beauty we love be what we wear! Kristinit is the clothing label of designer and artist Kristina Lenss. Inspired by nature and vintage design, every piece is lovingly designed for the alluring and elegant woman who radiates beauty from the inside out.
The story of Kristinit began over 20 years ago. Kristina spent every free moment of the day drawing and creating fanciful images of fashion and beauty. Watching old Marlene Dietrich movies rather than Sesame Street, Kristina began educating herself on fashion and history, and stepping on the path to becoming a genuine designer, soulfully dedicated to her craft and motivated by all things beautiful, demure, and mysterious.
Kristina grew up to study costume design at the renowned Wimbledon School of Art in London and completed a B.A. in art history from U.C. Santa Cruz and an M.F.A. in costume design from UCLA. Working in various design arenas including theater, opera, film, commercials, ballet, and ski wear, Kristina has designed and exhibited her award winning designs all over the world.
A skilled artist as well, Kristina is also known for her fashion illustrations and works closely with some of the world’s top stylists, creating looks for celebrities and musicians.
In the fall of 2005, Kristina initiated her own line: KRISTINIT. Already recognized as having to offer something of value to the fashion world, the line has been featured in many publications over the past year including IN TOUCH, OK MAGAZINE, TEEN VOGUE, APPAREL NEWS, NYLON, DAILY CANDY, ELLE, STYLE.COM, and a “One to Watch” article in LUCKY MAGAZINE. The stars are lining up as well, as Kristinit counts the elegant and beautiful EVA MENDES, SCARLETT JOHANSSON, ZOE DESCHANEL, BOBBIE THOMAS, and FINOLA HUGHES among her celebrity clients.
More importantly, every garment is locally constructed and a percentage of each sale is donated to various charities that promote the well being of life on our planet including onepercentfortheplanet.org and pachama.org
“As a consumer, it is important to question where your clothes come from. The most beautiful thing about a piece of clothing is not how cheaply you bought it or even the style of it, but rather where it was made, who made it and what kind of impact it has on the environment.” says Kristina.
